Dobri Baldaranov, MD

Associate Director, Medical Safety (Medical Monitoring)

Biography

The Medical Safety Unit provides safety oversight for ATRI’s entire portfolio of clinical trials. The unit is comprised of two teams: medical monitors and clinical monitors. Medical Monitors, all of whom are physicians, review and code all adverse and serious adverse events, abnormal labs, ECGs and MRIs. In addition, they review participant eligibility, protocol deviations, provide guidance to sites on management of adverse events, and interface with medical teams of industry partners.  The Medical Safety Unit, in close collaboration with the Biostatistics Unit, acts as the primary liaison with the DSMB. Clinical monitors are responsible for engaging with sites regarding trial conduct and quality, including conducting onsite and remote visits, and serving as resources in AD clinical trial procedures.
