The National Institute on Aging establishes the Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS) at the University of California, San Diego, under the direction of Dr. Leon Thal. The ADCS is a national consortium designed to facilitate the development of treatments for Alzheimer’s by conducting large-scale collaborative clinical trials. Dr. Leon Thal led the ADCS until his untimely death in 2007.
